The Department adds Community Support (formerly called Community Membership) services as follows:
MaineCare renamed a Section 20 service, effective 1 July 2023. What the manual called Community Membership is now called Community Support. The Department’s own wording is that it “adds Community Support (formerly called Community Membership) services,” which names the old term and the new one as the same service rather than two.
For an agency billing Section 20, this is a change of vocabulary. Community Support is the term MaineCare now uses for the service. Hornbeam’s record of this notice carries one change, the name, so no procedure code, unit or rate moved with it.
The guidance carrying the rename is dated 31 October 2023, four months after the date it takes effect. It does not say whether records written under the old name need updating, and it carries no change request number.
