Hornbeam Health is building software for the independently-owned mental health and healthcare agencies of Maine — organizations that have chosen to stay independent, and deserve tools built around how they actually run.

We're early. A working prototype exists today, and we're documenting it as it grows. The agencies who'll use it are shaping what it becomes.

Rate changes, section rewrites, new bulletins — the ones that reach your Programs and your billing. Changes we find go into the regulation digest, and this is the same thing in your inbox.

What we believe
Independent by design

You chose to stay independent. The software you run on should answer to you and to no one upstream.

Rooted in Maine

MaineCare sections, Maine licensing windows, Maine seasons. A vendor in another state has never had to read a §65 rate bulletin.

Built with agencies

We're sitting down with agency administrators across the state and building what they ask for, in the order they ask for it.

First growth — what we're building now
Staff compliance

The quiet worry of who's due for what, lifted. Renewals surface while there's still time to act, and when a state reviewer asks, you print the file sheet and hand it over.

Authorizations

Know where every Client's authorization stands without asking anyone to go check. An end date coming up, a balance running thin — you hear about it early, while there's still something to be done.

One set of due dates

One list of what needs attention next, most urgent at the top — staff and Clients together. Nothing lives in a second place you have to remember to check.

Your Agency's rules

Your catalogue, your Programs, your idea of what counts as soon. Set the thresholds once, and every status in the product is computed from your numbers.

Separate by default

Your agency's world is fully its own. Staff see their own file and nothing further — and no one outside your walls sees anything at all.

All of it working today as an early prototype — and shaped, piece by piece, by what agencies tell us they need.
The prototype, observed

Under two minutes of the working prototype: an expired CPR caught and put right, and a MaineCare rate change quoted from the bulletin that caused it.

From Fort Kent to Kittery — serving the full spread of Maine's independent care providers, rural and coastal alike.
